On the afternoon of November 23, at the meeting with Mr. Cao De Biao, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Urbaser Group, Spain, the City Party Committee Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan welcomed the enthusiasm and activeness of Urbaser Group in seeking opportunities to cooperate with the city in waste treatment. As stated by Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, Ho Chi Minh City aimed to reduce the rate of landfill to 50% by 2020. Therefore, the City has decided to choose new technology to treat waste, reduce environmental emissions and renew the energy. 

Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan hopes that through this visit, Mr. Cao De Biao and the delegation will learn about the process and procedures for bidding through the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, will open up many opportunities for cooperation with the City in the future. Mr. Cao De Biao said, Urbaser operated in the field of environmental management, currently managed 300 waste treatment plants worldwide.

 In Vietnam, Urbaser implemented a number of waste treatment projects in Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Hanoi. Mr. Cao De Biao hopes that the leader of Ho Chi Minh City will create conditions for the entity to explore to invest in and build a typical waste treatment plant in Ho Chi Minh City; at the same time undertakes to share experiences, help localities train human resources in this field in order to improve the ability of environmental protection and help the city develop sustainably.
